The LeBlanc family is a musical group made up of Robin, the father, and his three daughters: Charlotte, Rosalie and Melodie. Anchored in traditions, but open to the world, this Acadian family weaves a lively and inspired music, at the crossroads of cultures and generations.
A musician since childhood, Robin LeBlanc was first trained in classical piano at the Bathurst Sisters’ Convent, affiliated with the Université de Moncton. He then explored various instruments – drums, violin, Scottish violin – while travelling in more than fifteen countries, from Morocco to Hungary, from Turkey to Ireland. His many musical encounters have nourished an eclectic and curious approach, which materialised in a first solo album, Sur l’an premier, dedicated to rare, forgotten or unpublished traditional pieces of repertoires from here and elsewhere.
It was in 2016, during a family trip to the Festival des traditions du monde in Gannat, France, that the musical project of the LeBlanc family really took off. The three girls, then very young, sing Acadian songs and present jitter numbers, already affirming their talent and passion for living culture. The following year, they each chose an instrument: the violin for Charlotte, the English concertina for Rosalie, and the Irish flute for Melody.
Since then, the LeBlanc family has represented Canada at various festivals, including South Korea (2018) and France (2019). In 2020, she released a first album, Trois jolies demoiselles, nominated for the East Coast Music Awards 2022 in the Trad/Folk category – a significant recognition that confirms the correctness of their approach.
The last family album, I Would Waste My Time…, is designed to be shared and transmitted to the ear, like the traditions that inspire them. With the support of the Canada Council for the Arts and the New Brunswick Arts Council, the LeBlanc family is enthusiastically pursuing its musical journey, between roots and inventions, between heritage and living creation.
