Suzuhana Yuko

Suzuhana Yuko is a Japanese singer-songwriter and vocalist of the Wagakki Band. She studied piano from age 3 and the traditional Japanese performing arts of Shigin (singing) and Kenshibu (sword dancing) from age 5. Graduated from the Tokyo College of Music with a major in classical piano. In 2011, she won first place in the Japan National Shigin Contest.

In 2014, she started “Wagakki Band” as the leader to “expand traditional performing arts to the world.” The band’s first album debuted at No. 1 on the domestic charts, and the band has performed at the Nippon Budokan, one of the most prestigious venues in Japan. The band’s popularity soared, and they received numerous awards. The group’s activities are not limited to Japan but have expanded worldwide, including a solo tour of North America, performances in New York, China, Taiwan, and France, and a collaboration with Amy Lee of EVANESCENCE.

She is also a member of Hana-Fu-Getsu, an acoustic unit of three people who pioneered the formation of the Japanese musical instrument band. The sound of Japanese musical instruments (shakuhachi and koto) that naturally blends into the music and the sound of the songs that colour the melody are fresh and nostalgic at the same time. They also perform dances tailored to Japanese musical instruments, and performances rich in entertainment are supported by a wide range of age groups.

She has also released many songs as a solo artist. She has worked on numerous tie-ups, including the game PS4/PS Vita “SD Gundam: Generation Genesis,”
the anime “Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans,” and “Peach Boy Riverside”. She is an idea person and produces all kinds of projects. She is also active as a voice actor and radio personality. She has experience in providing music and obtaining a junior high and high school music teacher license, and is also involved in education.

A special live performance was held at the 50th National Ginken Shibudo Competition” held at the Nippon Budokan in November. In addition, she performed poetry and sword poetry dance as an individual by Yuko Suzuka. She also sang the national anthem at the National Sports Festival in the presence of the Emperor and Empress and at the MotoGP Japanese Grand Prix “2023 FIM MotoGP World Championship Series”.
