Goose House (グース ハウス) is a Japanese music group consists of singer-songwriters and musicians founded by Johnny Saito, d-iZe, Rioka Kanda, Kimura Masahide, and Hana Sekitori.who were individually active gathered in a room of a share house to perform music activities.
Initially, this project was called “PlayYou.House,” and was a PR project for Sony Walkman’s. After the program ended in 2011, they changed their name to Goose house and continued to produce music, expanding to YouTube and live performances. Their name comes from the migratory bird geese, which was given with the expectation that “things that cannot be done by one bird can be done by a flock”. Their fans are called housemates.
Their main activities gathered on YouTube, while also livestreaming music in their USTREAM channel about once a month. The band often covers Japanese songs, while also making their own music. Signed under the label gr8! Records off Sony Music Records, they are also known for their music appearing in Japanese anime shows, such as Your Lie in April with its opening song, “Hikaru Nara,” as well as the second ending theme song of Silver Spoon, ‘Oto no Naru Hou e’, which was released as their major debut single February 2014.
In December 2018, Saito tweeted that the remaining 5 members—Kei Takebuchi, Shuhei Kudo, Manami, Sayaka and Shuhei Watanabe—would leave the group. These five members then created a new project, Play Goose and are actively engaged in music activities. Meanwhile Goose House are in hiatus at the moment.
