Old Time Sailors

Old Time Sailors is a flashmob musical show designed to take the audience back in time through an unforgettable trip to the 19th century. Every member of the audience receives a copy of the Sunday Sailor, their own newspaper shaped program which includes the lyrics to all the songs and dance moves to the jigs and polkas (plus personalized postal stamps!) in order to enable the audience to sing and dance along to the band and become a Sailor for one epic night! It is a thick newspaper!

Under the guidance of Captain Nicholas Moffatt, the talented crew of The Old Time Sailors invite revellers to embark on a whimsical adventure filled with foot-stomping rhythms, lively dancing, and soul-stirring singing. The crew is composed of 17 musicians playing fully unplugged to ensure the most authentic experience. They offer a 3 hour show including intermissions to relax and have dinner with friends and family. Over 30 songs and tunes where the audience will sing and dance surrounded by drunken Sailors, witnessing an astounding show unmatched in this music genre.

Everything takes place within the magnificent stage, which is set out like the inside of an 1840s’ sailing ship and all the crew appear in the authentic dress of the period. From the first pluck of a mandolin to the last strains of a fiddle, this show has everyone clapping, stamping their feet, dancing and joining in with the songs. It is fast, furious, exhausting and hugely entertaining.

The show starts at a furious pace. Nineteen crew members, playing various instruments, takes us on an unforgettable voyage, and their musicianship is second to none. Song after song is played, with no break in between. It can be difficult to follow the words as they are singing so fast and no sooner have they finished an up-tempo version of The Wild Rover, than it is straight into Whiskey Makes Me Crazy. They sing the fastest version of It’s A Long Way To Tipperary I have ever heard.
