Heline is a Finnish flute player. She mainly makes arrangements and covers of known songs, but she also makes some original music every now and then. She first came to my attention when I watched one of her reaction videos on You Tube. She watches videos of other flute players – usually in rock bands and comments on them. Her fascination and delight with the playing of Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull was palable. Intrigued I listened to more of her music and found her playing themes from old video games that I had enjoyed with David..
Heline studied flute playing at Universiy to become a musician. However, the competition was brutal in classical music world and teaching wasn’t something she wanted to do full time so she decided to drop out after taking a year off. Heline has been teaching flute playing for over 10 years and during her studies she’s been part of many operas, musicals and other projects. Nowadays she’s doing live streams on Twitch and making YouTube videos. She’s also doing occasional live performances and working as self employed session musician.
Heline has a regular Saturday show on You Tube called ‘Flute Playing and Coffee Talk’ where as she says: ‘Sit back, relax, and enjoy the floot tooteries delivered directly to your home! Feel free to ask questions and chat! I’ll happily talk with you between the songs! Or play songs between talks…I talk a lot.’
I have found her flute improvisationsto be very condusive as a background to work. This is her latest offering. The Quiet Forest.
