“Bubbly” is the debut single of American singer Colbie Caillat from her first album, Coco (2007). Written by Caillat and Jason Reeves and produced by Mikal Blue, the song was released as the album’s lead single in May 2007. “Bubbly” is Caillat’s highest-charting hit and is her only single to reach the top 10 of the US Billboard. Internationally, “Bubbly” reached number one in Australia, Brazil, and the Czech Republic. It also became a top-10 hit in several European countries, including Belgium, Germany, and Norway. It did not fare as well in the British Isles, peaking at number 58 in the United Kingdom and number 48 in Ireland. The song’s music video, directed by Liz Friedlander, aired on MTV, VH1 and CMT. A still from the music video was used as the cover for Caillat’s debut album, Coco.
“Ruby” is a song by English band Kaiser Chiefs. It was released in the United Kingdom in February 2007 as the lead single from their second studio album, Yours Truly, Angry Mob (2007). It became the band’s first British number-one single and ended 2007 as the year’s 10th-biggest-selling single in the UK. A video single of the song was released in the United States at Best Buy stores in March 2007, two weeks before the album was released there. Speaking about the song lead singer Ricky Wilson said about Ruby “she is super cool, totally unapproachable” and that “there was a girl like that at school”.
“Float On” is a song by American band Modest Mouse, released in March 2004, as the lead single from their fourth studio album, Good News for the People Who Love Bad News (2004). The song topped the US Billboard chart and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rock Song in 2005. The music video is portrayed in the style of a pop-up book with the band wearing turn of the century style clothing and in an underwater scene with flotsam suits.
“My Immortal” is a song by American rock band Evanescence from their debut studio album, Fallen (2003). It was released by Wind Up Records in December 2003, as the third single from the album. An alternative version appears on the band’s fourth studio album Synthesis (2017). The song was written by guitarist Ben Moody, lead singer Amy Lee and keyboardist David Hodges, and it was produced by Moody and Dave Fortman. The version of the song released as a single was dubbed the “band version” because of the complete band’s performance of the bridge and final chorus of the song. The song is considered the band’s second most successful single of all time, generally peaking within the top 20 of more than 10 countries internationally. “My Immortal” peaked at number seven on the Billboard and debuted at number seven in the UK which later also became its peak position.
“Take Me Home” (also known as “Take Me Home (A Girl Like Me)“) was covered by English recording artist Sphie Ellis-Bextor for her debut studio album Read My Lips (2001). It contains rewritten lyrics by Ellis-Bextor, while British musician Damian LeGassick handled production and a few other tasks. Polydor Records released it as both a digital download and a CD single in August 2001, alongside a remix and B-side track “Sparkle”. An accompanying music video, directed by Sophie Muller, was included in the CD single release and features Ellis-Bextor in a variety of outfits and high-couture clothes.
