Holiday Jubilee

“Holiday Jubilee” is a self released 2018 album by Puddles Pity Party, containing his version of a number of Christmas favourites. Michael Geier is a singer, entertainer, whose most critically acclaimed act is his alter ego: a Pagliacci-type clown named Puddles Pity Party. As Puddles, Geier has appeared in YouTube videos since 2013. Geier now performs almost exclusively as Puddles, but he also refers to Puddles as a completely separate entity from himself. Likewise, “Puddles” also won’t acknowledge himself as Geier.

Originally, Puddles was a Shriner clown, but eventually developed into Puddles Pity Party, wearing a whiteface clown costume. Geier considers himself and Puddles to be separate people, and he refuses to break character. Like Geier himself, Puddles has a baritone singing voice, and sings mostly covers of songs. Puddles has a depressed persona and refrains from speaking on stage or giving interviews. His shows include a mix of silent prop comedy, mime, and audience participation with songs interplayed throughout creating a narrative structure.

The album is a recording of a concert given by Puddles and accompanied by friends like Lucky Yates, Krampus, and Santa. The blurb for the concert suggests that “Puddles is guaranteed to deliver a memorable performance as he sings all your favourite holiday classics.

The venue described the concert as “A singularly special event, the Holiday Jubilee marks Puddles’ first-ever headlining performance at the Fox and promises to be a joyous evening filled with holiday cheer and perhaps even a few tears. Puddles’ show will include the implementation of The Fox’s custom M.P. Möller pipe organ “Mighty Mo,” which is the second-largest theater organ in the world, and a number of soon to be announced special guests that are near and dear to Puddles.”

The show has since become a much anticipated annual event. Puddles is still producing new YouTube videos for Christmas as can seen from this Covid offering.
