La Femme

La Femme are a French psych-punk rock band established in 2010 by guitarist Sacha Got and keyboard player Marlon Magnée in Biarritz. Several members joined later, including former lead singer (until 2019) Clemence Quelennec, bass player Sam Lefevre, drummer Noé Delmas, and Lucas Nunez. Other members include Clara Luciani, Jane Peynot and Marilou Chollet. The band’s music has been described as synthetic and hypnotic. It mixes elements of cold wave, punk, and yeye, with musical influence from artists such as Sparks, The Velvet Underground, and Kraftwerk.

In 2010, the group released a first EP under the digital label BEKO DSL, then an EP entitled Le podium No.1 in 2011. The group performed at the Inrocks festival at La Cigale in November 2011. In February 2013. The EP entitled The Woman is on the cover of Magic magazine. The first album Psycho Tropical Berlin was released in April 2013; it is ranked second among the best albums of the year by the magazine Les Inrockuptibles. In February 2014, the group won the 2014 Victoires de la Musique in the Revelation Album of the Year category.

The album Mystère was released in September 2016. It was preceded by two extracts: in March 2016. The single Sphynx was accompanied by a clip directed by Marlon Magnée, with Aymeric Bergada from Le Cadet, and Ou va le monde? in June 2016. The group opened for the group Red Hot Chili Peppers during a few European dates of their 2016 tour. In February 2017, Mystère came in second position for “Rock Album of the Year” at the Victoires de music 201712. Psycho Tropical Berlin and Mystère are then gold records. In September 2018, the group composed the song Runway, lasting 20 minutes, for the fashion show of the first Céline collection directed by Hedi Slimane.

In April 2021, the album Paradigmes was released, preceded by extracts released in 2020: the eponymous track in September, the single Cool Colorado in November, and the single Disconnexion in December. The clips for the three singles were filmed at the Parisian nightclub Petit Palace. This album gave rise to a film Paradigmes le film.

The fourth album Teatro Lúcido mixes Hispanic and Basque styles such as reggaeton and paso doble. While singing in French, La Femme is exported abroad, and tours in 33 countries.
