Silenzium

Silenzium was created in 2004 by young musicians from Novosibirsk Philharmonic Society. Silenzium is a classical string quartet with the addition of a contrabass and a drum set, which breaks all the stereotypes about a traditional sound of a string band. They came up with such a sonorous name thanks to one poem by Tyutchev Silentium (which means silence).

The trio consists of two violins and a cello, but the performance, repertoire and presentation can safely be called ultra-modern. The girls play hard rock (Metallica, Rammstein, Nirvana) and modern popular music and classical music (Bach, Vivaldi) arranged in the style of Vanessa Mae. The group’s repertoire includes Soviet CCCP melodies of the last century and their own compositions.

Natasha Niramaya – founder, leader and cellist, before creating SILENZIUM she worked as a soloist of the orchestra in Novosibirsk Philharmonic and senior teacher of the Department of String Instruments of the Novosibirsk Conservatory. Natalya is a laureate of an international competition as a cellist, and is also an arranger and composer. Two violinists of the latest composition, Mila Reuss and Elizaveta Baburova, are students and graduates of the Novosibirsk Conservatory.

The group’s performance is always not just a performance – but also a real show – with unusual costumes and choreographic elements subtly woven into the music. Even the cello here is transformed into an instrument that is played not just while standing (although in the classical version it is played while sitting), but in constant movement around the stage. And for many of their performances, they write the script, so each of their concert is a kind of theatrical performance with a lot of surprises.

The SILENZIUM string show is an art that knows no boundaries or stereotypes. Here there is only a living feeling of music that breathes everything new and fresh!
