Anastasia Tyurina

Anastasia Tyurina is the winner of national and international competitions. She was the winner of the All-Russian television competition for young talents “Blue Bird” in 2018. At just 7 years old, she was put in the spotlight with her balalaika while the National Academic Orchestra of Russian Folk played behind her in the Tchaikovsky Hall. She must have been a little nervous, but it certainly didn’t show as she perfectly executed the piece – she didn’t even need sheet music! She plays a Russian folk song, “Valenki.” She not only hits the notes correctly, but she strategically finesses the strings with personality and poise.

Anastasia who was born in Tajikistan have been playing since she was five year old. She has become a virtuoso on the balalaika, a three-stringed instrument is in the lute family, analogous to the guitar or the ukulele. This unique sound is very cheerful and fluid. It creates the sound of dance. Called by some the little princess of balalaika, (not something she likes) she plays classics, jazz and anything between and beyond.

Anastasia hold a scholarship from the Vladimir Spivakov International Charitable Foundation and the New Names Charitable Foundation. She is also a gold medalist at the “Youth Delphic Games of Russia”.

Best of all, this little girl’s love of music comes through so clearly in the way she performs. Even as she concentrated on playing, she was so expressive and happy. It’s no wonder she was given such an important role – she’s brilliant at what she does and her joy is contagious!
