MOS (“Music Omotenashi Sisters”) are a Japanese five-piece brass band from Tokyo, that describes themselves as a “neo brass band”, with three saxophone players, one trumpet and a trombone. The group is made up of five members — Lemi, Erna, Miyu, Mau, and Lotta. Japanese brass band which translates as Suisogaku. They are working to bring the beauty of Suisogaku to the world with their performance “Bladan”, which is a fusion of brass and dance.
The group has made waves on social media in Japan by posting their covers online and have collaborated with Japanese artist GANMI. Each SNS that started in April 2020 has now exceeded a million followers. They also appeared at the closing ceremony of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. I was in charge of the brass and dance section. In January 2022, the first live show was held by distribution, and the band continued to gain momentum, by as releasing the song “Wow Music Let’s Enjoy feat. C & K”. 2023 saw them release new original songs and move their activities into the real world.
Four out of the five members graced the ‘America’s Got Talent’ stage with a rendition of “Bang Bang” by Jessie J. The playing itself was extraordinary each note hit was clean, but the standout aspect was the perfect synchronisation between each member. The choreography was on par with a pure dance act and was mesmerising to witness, the term “like a well-oiled machine” is the only way to describe it. Each member took the stage for solo sections, proving the talent of each member.
MOS performance gave them a place in the AGT semi-finals. They chose Fleur East’s “Sax” MOS’ for the semi-final performance. Simon Cowell gave them a standing ovation. They received enough votes to enter the top 5 on the night, but did not receive enough votes to enter the top 3, eliminating them from the competition.
