DeLaurentis

With a name evoking the film producer Dino De Laurentiis (La Strada, Barbarella, Flash Gordon, Dune), the artist and composer DeLaurentis orchestrates an electro-cinematic both soft and powerful, clear and obscure: relentlessly effective and bewitching. Her voice is the leading role in her musical films. Her musical inspirations are electronic, contemporary and cinematic at the same time. Like any artist, the link between music and image is essential in the creative process. Inspired by Brian Eno, Jean Michel Jarre, Vangelis, Oneohtrix Point Never and of course Laurie Anderson, one of the first women who pioneered electronic music.

In 2023, she released her “Classical Variations Vol.2” an opus that she bridges the gap between Maurice Ravel and Daft Punk with her artful electronic interpretations of French classical pieces from the end of 19th century & early 20th ; Gymnopédie, Pavane, Boléro… She caught the eye of many with videoclips, like “A Big Part of a Big Sun”, “Life” but also a few of her tracks have been used in commercials and American TV shows especially during her live performance for Issey Miyake 2020 fashion show.

Her first album was developed over 2 years of introspection with her machines. Creating an intimate relationship between the woman and her machines, transforming happy accidents into inspiration, she gave birth to her digital sister : Unica. In 10 tracks, this digital-tale brings forth the emotions between a human artist and her machine. This strong and sensitive story about the fusion of two contemporary beings, in an enchanting mix of reality and imagination, flesh and processors, in contact with heady and effective tracks.

She questions her relationship to machines on a daily basis through her art, her music and new technology. She is particularly interested in making the emotional and fusional links that exist between the creators of electronic music and their machines visible. She uses her machines as extensions of her vocal cords, she has a trans humanist relationship with them, and Unica is its allegory.

The track ‘Somewhere in between’ has been recorded in collaboration with an artificial intelligence developed by Spotify CTRL Lab and she also collaborates with the French Institute IRCAM on the Virtual Choir tool which she handles with the Mimu gloves developed by Imogen Heap. In 2022, she developed a side project named AVORIAZ with producer Joachim Garraud following a songwriting camp in the Californian desert aboard LA Goodvibe. DeLaurentis succeeded in creating the ideal connection between the woman and the machine ; the missing piece that fit between electronic music and A.I.
