CHRISTMAS is an album of Holiday and Winter themed songs by the Mona Lisa Twins. It includes an original Christmas song as well as fresh interpretations of Christmas classics well known and loved. MonaLisa Twins are a pop rock band, fronted by twin-sister singer-songwriters Mona Wagner (vocals, rhythm guitar, percussion, harmonica, flute) and Lisa Wagner (vocals, lead guitar, ukulele, cello).
The album was orginially released in 2019 but it has been freshly promoted this Christmas. Indeed i was able to purchase a digital copy along with their latest release ‘Why’ for the princely sum of £8, which I regard as an excellent deal, and is why it has come first on my selection of Christmas albums this year.
MonaLisa Twin’s ‘Christmas’ album presents many refreshing versions of old favourites. Their original, ‘All I Want Christmas to Be’ is a heartfelt and sweetly nostalgic song in which gracefully waltzing vocal harmonies blend with lovely, delicate piano accompaniment. The first verse of a beloved Christmas song provides an unexpected and pleasing treat for listeners – the original version – this is ‘Snow Falls Softly at Night’. ‘
Walking in the Air’ is a stand-out track, receiving its exciting energy and momentum from economical and effective use of percussion and rhythm guitar. The sultry ‘Santa Baby’ is appropriately re-themed to satisfy the respective passions of the Twins.
Throughout the album you will find MonaLisa Twin’s flawless guitar-playing, lovely vocal harmonies, imaginative arrangements, and impeccable mixing.
