Planning

Moving on to the second line of ‘Wishin’ and Hopin’ bring us to ‘Planning’. I am not sure that my researches will be able to find many songs on this topic, especially well known songs, but you never know until you look – so here goes.

That’s The Way God Planned It is the title track of the fourth studio album by American musician Billy Preston, released in August 1969 on Apple Records. The album followed Preston’s collaboration with the Beatles on their “Get Back” single and was produced by George Harrison. It became a hit in the UK when issued as a single.

“Part of the Plan” is a track from Souvenirs the second studio solo album by the American rock singer-songwriter Dan Fogelberg. The album was released in late 1974, on the Epic label. The album reached No. 17 on the Billboard in March 1975 and was certified double platinum by the RIAA. Joe Walsh produced the album and played on ten of the eleven tracks.

Making Plans for Nigel” is a song by the English band XTC that was released as the opening track and lead single from their 1979 album Drums and Wires. It was written by Colin Moulding the band’s bassist. The lyrics are told from the point of view of parents who are certain that their son Nigel is “happy in his work”, affirming that his future in British Steel “is as good as sealed”, and that he “likes to speak and loves to be spoken to.” The single marked XTC’s commercial breakthrough. It spent 11 weeks on the UK Singles Chart and peaked at No. 17. It was ranked number 73 in NME list of 100 best songs of the 70s.

The Marshall Plan” is a track from Cultösaurus Erectus the seventh studio album by American rock band Blue Oyster Cult, released in June 1980. Following an experiment with a more-polished sound on the album Mirrors (released the previous year), this recording marked a return to the band’s earlier, heavier sound. The title “The Marshall Plan” is a play on words, connecting the post-World Wat II economic program with the British amplifier manufacturer.

“No Plan B” was released as a single fromThe Chase the fifth studio album by the Christian rapper Manafest. It was released In early January 2010 under BEC Recordings, in association with Uprok Records. “No Plan B” reached No. 1 on Christian Rock Net’s charts. If one buys the Japanese edition of the album, they are treated to two extra versions of “No Plan B”.

“Making Plans” is an Above & Beyond track that was played for the first time acoustically at the Porchester Hall. In the summer of 2013, Above & Beyond performed some of their best-loved songs acoustically as part of a 15-piece band, across four sold out shows at London’s famous Porchester Hall. The response from fans was overwhelming and led to two sold-out nights at The Greek Theater in Los Angeles in October, described by Billboard Magazine as “one of the finest and more memorable shows in EDM history.”
