THe HUM Gospel Choir came to attention when the were recommended to me by Alan Gibson, who organises evenings of music at the Barn in Meanwood. I had been in search of a gospel choir to perform at LIve @ Costa for over five years. The heart of the problem was that gospel choirs by their very nature tend to be large and Costa was not a huge venue. I had just about given up hope of being able to fulfil this dream when the pocket sized HUM gospel choir came along to fit the bill.
HUM, which stand for Harmony – Unison – Melody are described as one of the most versatile modern gospel Choirs in the north, bringing to you soulful vocals that will have your hairs on end. They hail from Leeds and as well as their concert appearances, they specialise in singing for weddings and funerals, a ministry which enables them to get along folk with some gentle good news at significant times in their lives.
Their performance at Live @ Costa ranks as one of the best evenings that we enjoyed in our 6 year tenure. Here is one of the songs from their performance at the The Barn in Meanwood. It shows their ability to sing popular songs with that gospel feel. This is good music for a Sunday morning.
