In 2019, Stormzy achieved his first UK number-one single with “Vossi Bop” and his headline appearance at the 2019 Glastonbury Festival was widely praised; he wore a Union Flag stab vest designed by Banksy, in light of the rise in knife crime in London. His second album, ‘Heavy is the Head’ was released in December 2019. It has been nominated for the 2020 Mercury Prize. The title comes from a misquote of Shakespeare. The original quotation ‘uneasy is the head that wears a crown‘ is from Henry IV Part 2 is often now phrased as ‘heavy is the head the wears the crown‘. The phrase has become an English idiom meaning that those charged with major responsibility carry a heavy burden that makes it difficult for them to relax. This is one of the singles taken from the Album.
Stormzy is a Christian, on the BBC’s Christmas Day lineup in 2019 he read a passage from the Gospel of Luke.
