I hope not to be accused of nepotism but this video is fresh out of the box and so it seemed to be appropriate to share with you the work of our friends Hazjak. Hazjak are Steve Chapman Smith and Lynne O’Malley (Yan Tan Tether) and together they bring a wonderful mixture of folk, americana and blues, featuring some impressive harmonies. There are always some amusing stories and a good deal of joy whenever they play.
Listerville tells the tale of what happens when you park you car in the wrong place and is a classic example of the songwriters revenge. This one small incidence is now immortalised in song, haunting the residents of Listerville forever.
This is the song with which they usually finish their sets. A song by Steve which owes just a little to Johnny Cash. Just as in all good maths exams you are required to show all working – Steve obviously adheres to this creed because he shows his working by sequeing into Folsom Prison at the end.
