It being Monday morning again, it is necessary to begin the week with something foot-tapping. So I have delved back to New Year Eve 2004 and the appearance of The Ditty Bops on the Conan O’Brien Show (apologies for the extraneous non musical content). The Ditty Bops were a band from LA that were noted for their tight vocal harmonies by Abby DeWald and Amanda Barrett. They incorporated a variety of musical styles with guitar, ukulele, mandolin and dulcimer. Their live shows were often very interactive, and had different themes and theatrical elements complete with props, costumes, skits, and amusing slide shows.
I came across them via this particular song and bought, their eponymously named, first album, which is full of their own quirkly compostions. The girls now seem to have disbanded and there is little trace of them left apart from some lovely You Tube videos. They are well worth a listen if you have a free ear.
